Supplied new by Portman Lamborghini in October 1983 to its first owner who shipped the car to his home in Johannesburg where it was serviced at his home every year by a technician who would visit from Lamborghini Johannesburg. The car never saw wet roads or even rain but was periodically driven a few miles to keep it in perfect mechanical condition and the oils and fluids up to temperature.

In 2014, Lamborghini test driver and historian Valentino Balboni was engaged to undertake a pre purchase inspection. For this the car was carefully transported to Lamborghini Johannesburg premises where upon inspection it became apparent how original the car is. It still sat on its original factory fitted Pirelli P7 tyres, all decals including the Vitaloni Turbo stickers on the wing mirrors are still present. The engine bay had retained all of its original oil lines, gaskets.

The owner had even retained its original set of spark plugs in a box which was with the car. Original Alpine Hi Fi, keys, spare wheel and features.

In Valentinos own words from his signed report -

"This is a Countach is in outstanding good and original conditions, absolutely rare the way it has been kept, no sign of abuse and well preserved.

This Countach should be considered a reference point for originality, in fact it helped me a lot refreshing my mind on how we manufactured this work of art 31 years ago.

I am happy to say that inspecting and evaluating this car has been quite an easy job this time, paired with an immense joy to see how this Countach has been considered and respected"

On receipt of the glowing report a purchase was agreed and it was transported to Valentinos personal workshop in Italy with an no expense spared brief to service the car ready for use. The engine and gearbox were removed and all new gaskets, oil pipes, oils and coolants were fitted and replaced by the very people who worked on the cars in period. Now having done full circle from London, to Johannesburg, to Italy and back to London this car is UK road registered. Words cannot quite describe the perfection of this example, and is without doubt the best example of the ultimate icon of the Supercar in the World.
